Transforming IT Infrastructure for an International School
Customer:
An international school dedicated to providing a sound academic framework in a conducive environment that promotes social and environmental responsibility.
Challenge:
The school faced severe surveillance and electrical issues, including network downtime, water leakage in certain areas, exposed power socket boards, internet connectivity problems, improper cabling of CCTV and LAN networks, merging of individual networks due to liquid damage, and shorting of PDU boards in Netracks.
Onsite Analysis: Upon thorough examination, the following issues were identified:
- Network downtime in seconds.
- Water leakage in North Duct rooms.
- Exposed power socket boards leading to potential power disruptions.
- Internet access point connectivity issues.
- Merging of CCTV and LAN network switches.
- Liquid damage causing the merging of individual networks.
- PDU boards shorting in Netracks.
IT Architecture Solution:
To address the challenges, the following solutions were implemented:
- Installation and configuration of new switches, including TP-Link TL-SG-2428P and TPLINK TL-SG1024D.
- Installation of 12 IP cameras in mandatory areas for enhanced surveillance.
- Configuring and setting up the IP cameras, including Honeywell Impact-I-HIE4PI-EL 4MP IP Dome Audio Cam and Honeywell Impact-I-HIE4PI-EL 4MP IP Bullet Audio Cam.
- Separation of individual networks for CCTV and LAN environments.
- Implementation of unified networked management.
- Conversion of the network to automation for improved efficiency.
- Stabilization of LAN connections by disabling auto reconnection.
Support Offered: Continued support was provided, including the replacement of additional IP cameras, as required, and the provision of POE injectors for the repair of shorted and damaged devices.
Desired Output: The desired outcome was to achieve 360-degree surveillance coverage, eliminate electrical errors, and ensure zero downtime in the school’s internal operations.
Technology & Tools: The implementation of the solution involved the utilization of hardware and networking equipment, including switches, IP cameras, and POE injectors.
Results: The implementation of the IT architecture solution transformed the surveillance and electrical infrastructure of the international school. The issues of network downtime, water leakage, power disruptions, and connectivity problems were successfully resolved. With the new IP cameras in place, the school achieved comprehensive 360-degree surveillance coverage. The unified networked management and automation enhanced the efficiency of operations, and the stable LAN connections ensured uninterrupted connectivity.
